From booking to your first class
- Book onlineChoose your classes and dates, then pay online.
- Take the free level testOptional. About 6 minutes, inside the booking. It helps your teacher prepare.
- We confirm your classesFor group classes, Agustina, our academic director, confirms your group and your exact class time within 24 hours of booking (Monday to Friday). For private lessons, our academic director contacts you, and your teacher agrees your days and times with you.
- Start your classesGroups start on the Monday you choose. Private lessons start Monday to Friday, from 48 hours after you book.
Our online students join from many time zones, and we build each group around a shared goal, so the class stays small, lively and useful. If your slot does not suit you, our academic director finds you another group or a later Monday. You never lose a class. Need a fixed hour every week? Private 1-on-1 lessons run on the days and times you choose, with your own teacher.
How a mixed-level class works
Every group mixes levels, and that is on purpose.
Each 2-hour class is built around one real situation, for example ordering, giving directions, a work call or talking about your family. We start together with a short warm-up. Then you work in pairs and trios on a task that has three steps: Start, Build and Stretch. You choose the step that stretches you, your teacher listens in and adjusts, and you swap partners halfway so you practise with different people.
Beginners get phrases and models to lean on. More confident speakers get harder questions and longer turns. You finish with a personal next step from your teacher. Groups are small, so your teacher hears you speak every class.
What you will be able to do
- If you are starting out: introduce yourself, ask and answer everyday questions, and get through simple situations such as ordering, shopping and asking for help.
- If you already speak some: hold longer conversations, tell stories about your life, and handle situations that do not go to plan.
- If you are confident: speak with more accuracy and range, argue a point, and sound more natural in work and social settings.
Your progress depends on how much you practise. Your teacher will tell you what to work on next.
A language school, not a marketplace
You can learn Spanish online with a freelance tutor from a marketplace, with a subscription to a large platform, or with a language school that teaches live with its own teachers and a timetable. Vamos Academy is a language school: small groups that start every Monday, native, experienced teachers with university degrees, and prices per week or per hour that you see before you book.
The facts, in one place
- Teachers: native speakers, experienced. Every Spanish teacher has a university degree in teaching Spanish as a foreign language or in linguistics.
- Academic director: Agustina (bachelor’s degree in public translation) confirms each student’s group and class time within 24 hours.
- Accreditations: International TEFL Accreditation Council, UTN, the University of Avellaneda and World Education University.
- Group size: 3 to 4 students on average; groups mix levels, with tasks at each person’s stretch point.
- School: Vamos Academy has taught Spanish in Buenos Aires since 2009.
What you pay
- Prices in US dollars: group classes US$60 (Explorer), US$80 (Traveler) or US$99 (Local) a week; private 1-on-1 lessons from US$20 an hour or less. The price you see is the final price.
- Booking: book online by credit or debit card or bank transfer; you can email yourself a quote and book later.
- Levels: groups mix levels, from complete beginners to confident speakers; private lessons follow your own level. See the level chart (PDF).
- Private lessons: Monday to Friday, on days and times that suit you, from 48 hours after you book.

Do you assess the Spanish skills of students before placing them in a class?
Only to help your teacher. Vamos Academy online groups mix levels, so no test decides your group or your price. The booking includes a free level test, optional, about 6 minutes, in Spanish, that helps your teacher prepare your first class. Agustina, our academic director, confirms your group and your class time within 24 hours.
All students, except for those who indicate they have never studied Spanish before and have no Spanish skills, can tell us where they are starting, with the free test inside the booking or in a short chat with Agustina, our academic director. This helps your teacher plan your first class, taking into account your language learning background and any other languages you speak. For private lessons, it also sets the level your lessons start at.
Do you use Spanish textbooks or other materials?
We use our own online materials, written by our academic team since 2009 and built around real situations, so you do not need to buy a textbook. They train the four skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing, and they show Spanish as it is spoken every day. Your teacher adds games, listening and reading exercises and authentic materials to match your goals.
Why do Corporate and Doctors online courses not have a fixed price?
Vamos Academy quotes corporate and doctors’ online courses individually because the group, the hours and the content are planned for each client. Kids’ packs and private groups have the prices shown on their pages. For corporate and medical classes we design a study plan around the people, their schedule and their goals, and send a personalized quote. Ask for a quote.
Do you focus on speaking and listening, or reading and writing the language?
Speaking and listening come first. Classes are taught entirely in Spanish and you speak from the first class, in pairs and trios built around real situations. Reading and writing are part of the program too, so you build all four skills.
How do our Spanish skill levels work?
Vamos Academy online group courses mix levels on purpose. Each class is built around one real situation, and every person gets tasks at their own stretch point, so you learn something new whether you are just starting or already speak well. You do not choose a level for a group course, and the price is the same for everyone in the group.
Private 1-on-1 lessons and kids’ classes follow your own level. For them we use the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; our Spanish Skill Level Chart describes what you can do with the language at each stage. Progress depends on age and motivation, linguistic and cultural background, exposure to the language outside the classroom and the amount of time spent in individual study.
What are the main differences between group and individual classes?
Vamos Academy online groups average 3 to 4 students and mix levels: each person gets tasks at their own stretch point, and the teacher gives everyone time to speak in every 2-hour class. Group classes follow a set timetable: 2-hour classes on 1, 2 or 3 weekdays a week, with a new group starting every Monday.
Private classes offer greater flexibility in scheduling and a personalized approach, focusing on your strengths and weaknesses and letting you progress at your own pace. If you would rather have a teacher to yourself, private 1-on-1 lessons start at 5 hours. See group classes and private lessons.
What are the available hours for online Spanish classes?
You choose the part of the day when you book: morning (8:00 to 12:00), afternoon (12:00 to 17:00) or evening (17:00 to 21:00), in your own time zone. Each class lasts 2 hours, on 1, 2 or 3 days a week, depending on your plan, and new groups start every Monday. Within 24 hours of booking, our academic director confirms your group and your exact class time by email; the time is always within the part of the day you chose.
If your group is not ready by your start Monday, we contact you before it begins and offer you the nearest group time or a later Monday start. Our teachers work from 8:00 to 24:00 UTC, so one part of the day may not be open in your time zone; the booking page shows the ones open for you. When clocks change for summer or winter, your class may move by one hour in your local time; we email you before that happens.
Can I choose the type of Spanish I would like to learn?
Your teachers are native speakers, each with a university degree in teaching Spanish as a foreign language or in linguistics, and our classes welcome every accent and dialect. In private lessons you choose the focus, such as conversation, writing, vocabulary, a profession or an exam.
How are online classes structured to be interactive?
Every class is built around one real situation, for example ordering, giving directions or a work call. You warm up together, then work in pairs and trios on a task with three steps (Start, Build and Stretch), and your teacher listens in and adjusts. You speak in every class, from the very first one. See how a mixed-level class works.
Are there any requirements for signing up with Vamos for online classes?
No. There are no special requirements: students of every age and background are welcome, online or in person.
Do I need a computer to take virtual classes with Vamos?
No, a computer is not a must. You can also take our classes using a cell phone or tablet. We do recommend a computer if possible, especially at beginner levels, as it can be hard to see the screen and the materials on a small display. If you are a more advanced student who prefers to focus on conversation, a phone or tablet is just fine.
What happens if I cannot attend a class due to internet problems or a power outage?
We understand that unexpected events can interfere with attending class. For individual classes, we work with you and your teacher to arrange a make-up session at a mutually convenient time. In the case of a missed group class, it may not be possible to reschedule the session, because the other members of the group will have already progressed. Our academic team and teachers will help you catch up, for example with additional resources or a personalised study plan.
Can I switch between private and group classes?
Yes. Many students switch between group and private lessons. For example, some take intensive group classes on vacation and continue with private lessons when they go back to work. Others start with private lessons, if they wish to start in the middle of the week, and use them to review topics before starting a group course the following Monday. After your group course starts you can also convert your remaining group hours into private lessons at half the time: every 2 group hours become 1 private hour.
Do you offer a trial class?
No, Vamos Academy does not offer a trial class, but you can start small. You can buy just one week of group classes to make sure it is a good fit, or a 5-hour pack of private lessons, and then commit to more.
Do you offer accelerated courses?
Yes. For the fastest progress choose the Local group course (3 days a week, 6 hours a week) or private lessons, where our academic team puts together a personalised plan for your trip, your job or your family.
Is it possible to offer classes as a gift to someone?
Yes. You can purchase group or private classes, or both, and gift them to a friend, family member or partner. Our program advisers walk you through every step. Write to us on WhatsApp or at online@vamospanish.live.
How much do online Spanish classes cost at Vamos Academy?
Group classes cost US$60 a week for Explorer (1 day a week), US$80 for Traveler (2 days) and US$99 for Local (3 days), with a 2-hour class each day. Longer courses cost less per week: 5% off from 4 weeks, 10% off from 8 weeks and 15% off from 12 weeks. Private 1-on-1 lessons cost US$100 for 5 hours, US$180 for 10, US$340 for 20, US$480 for 30 and US$750 for 50. Career and travel courses cost US$419 for 20 hours. Prices are in US dollars; nothing is added at checkout.
When do Vamos Academy online group classes start?
A new Vamos Academy online group starts every Monday. You choose 1, 2 or 3 weekdays a week, book from 1 to 24 weeks, and choose morning, afternoon or evening in your local time when you book. Your exact class time depends on how many students join your group; your academic director confirms it within 24 hours. Private 1-on-1 lessons start Monday to Friday, from 48 hours after you book.
Who teaches Vamos Academy online Spanish classes?
Vamos Academy online classes are taught live by native, experienced Spanish teachers. Every teacher has a university degree in teaching Spanish as a foreign language or in linguistics, and Agustina, our academic director, reviews your placement and your progress. Accreditations: International TEFL Accreditation Council, UTN, the University of Avellaneda and World Education University.
Can I prepare for the DELE or CELU exam online with Vamos Academy?
Yes. Vamos Academy prepares students for the DELE and CELU exams in private online lessons: you tell us the exam and the level, and your lessons focus on its tasks, from reading and listening to the written and oral parts. We prepare you for the exam; you sit it at an official exam centre. See DELE and CELU exam preparation.
Do you offer online Spanish classes for kids?
Yes. Vamos Academy teaches online Spanish for kids and teens aged 6 to 14 in private lessons, with 14 themed packs from 5 to 60 hours, starting at US$140 for 5 hours. Siblings and friends can learn together in a private group. See Spanish classes for kids.
How do I pay for Vamos Academy online classes?
You book and pay at go.vamospanish.live/online/ in US dollars, by credit or debit card or by bank transfer. The price you see is the final price. You can also email yourself a quote and book later, and at checkout you may choose to pay in your own currency.
Pay in full when you book, or secure your place with a 30% deposit when your course starts 10 or more days from today. Courses starting sooner, and packs of 5 or 10 hours, are paid in full.
The remaining 70% is due 5 days before your start date. We e-mail you reminders with a payment link, or we charge the card you saved if you chose automatic payment. If the balance is not paid by then, your booking is cancelled and the deposit is kept. The deposit is non-refundable. If we cannot place you in a class, we return your deposit in full.
You can change your start date once, at least 5 days before your current start, to a Monday within 3 months. Your balance date moves with it. Prefer private lessons? After your group course starts, you can convert your remaining group hours into private lessons at half the time: every 2 group hours become 1 private hour.
Will I be in a class with people at my level?
Not exactly, and that is on purpose. Vamos Academy online groups mix levels: in each class you get tasks at your own stretch point, so you learn something new whether you are just starting or already speak well. In a mixed group you will sometimes hear Spanish above your level and sometimes help someone who is just starting. That is how real conversation works, and it builds your listening and speaking quickly.
After your first class we ask you: too easy, just right or too hard? If it is not right, we adjust or you can switch your remaining hours to private lessons. Every 2 group hours become 1 private hour.
I am a complete beginner. Is this for me?
Yes. Vamos Academy online groups welcome complete beginners. You get phrases and models to lean on, your teacher listens in and helps, and you speak from the first class. Groups are small, 3 to 4 students on average, so your teacher hears you every class. Explorer, 1 day a week, is a relaxed way to start.
I speak well already. Will it be too easy?
No. Confident speakers get harder questions, longer turns and the Stretch step of every task, so you work on accuracy, range and sounding natural. Your teacher gives you a personal next step at the end of each class. If it is too easy, we adjust, or you can convert your remaining group hours into private lessons at half the time.
